Emmerdale fans were all saying the same thing as they watched David Metcalfe take his daughter Amba on a ‘great adventure’ on Wednesday night.
Viewers pointed out a big plot hole as they watched David (Matthew Wolfenden) kidnap Amba is his van, after Priya Sharma (Fiona Wade) waved goodbye.
Hidden in the passenger’s compartment was Amba’s passport – which David had conveniently forgotten to hand to Priya amid her plans to start a new life in London as part of Fiona’s exit storyline.
But fans questioned why David was driving – after previously being given a driving ban back in November.
David lost his license after framing Victoria by submitting her name when he received a speeding fine, before admitting what he had done to police after she threatened to expose him.
One wrote on Twitter: ‘I thought David had a driving ban…..??? How is he driving his van now?’
Another added: ‘Dave driving off in this Van pretty sure he can’t drive’.
A third chimed: ‘Thought David lost his license?! Are we meant to have forgotten this already?’
‘Didn’t David lose his license?’, wrote another.
But one fan replied: ‘He said like 10 minutes before that, that he hasn’t lost it yet as it’s not gone to court yet or something, but that he will be doing in like 2 weeks or something along those lines’.
Ready for a fresh start, Priya’s plan were halted when David discovered she wants to bring their daughter Amba with her.
A furious David confronted Priya after learning from Leyla about his ex’s planned move.
He said: ‘When were you thinking of telling me? I’ve just heard from Leyla. This is massive for our daughter.’
Priya was apologetic as she told him: ‘I know I totally messed up, but there’s no need to make empty threats.’
But rather sinisterly, David replied: ‘Who says they’re empty?’
Trying to pacify the situation, Priya told him: ‘This is a lot to take in and why don’t you come back in a bit and I’ll have Amba ready for you?’
Later as David arrived to pick up Amba, she said: ‘David once again I’m so sorry how you found out.’
To which he replied: ‘I’m ok it’s just a bit of a shock that’s all.’
Once in the van, Amba told her dad: ‘Mummy’s taking me on a forever adventure.’
Opening up the glove compartment, David revealed he had kept back her passport, suggesting plans to kidnap his daughter and head abroad.
He said: ‘I forgot to give your mum this. How do you fancy going on a proper adventure? Wave bye to mummy.’
Viewers will have to tune in to see how David’s kidnap pans out and if Priya will be able to track her daughter down.
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and is available on ITVX.
