“So many wonderful memories and such a gift of a job. Thank you to Reece Dinsdale, Abe Jukes and @gsiougas who were my wonderful directors on my last week. Thank you for your compassion and great direction as always! Thank you to the whole Emmerdale team, you are all amazing!
“To my beautiful friends that I take with me, thank you for being there, it meant the world. To my wonderful Sharma family @chrisbisson @bhaskerpatel @rebeccasarker @rik_makarem and Trudie Goodwin, you know how much I love you… Thank you for everything!
“And to all the Emmerdale viewers, thank you for all your support over the years. Here’s to the next chapter!”

The scenes leading up to her exit tied up some loose ends for the Sharma family after David Metcalfe initially tried to run away with daughter Amba due to Priya’s impending departure to London.
Speaking about how it feels to leave the show when it was announced, the star said: “It was one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make. Leaving my Emmerdale family is a big thing and it wasn’t easy filming my last scenes.
“When you’ve been somewhere for that long and that’s your every day, it’s hard and feels sad. But as every actor knows, you need to challenge yourself and that’s very important too,” she added.
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
